Summer 09

23 06 2009

Hey everyone,

Things have been good lately. Haven’t updated the site much at all, but have been working on countless other projects so staying busy is good at these times. I’ll post pics up soon of recent happenings and hope that everyone is still doing well and continuing to do what they love-

It was a great race, a great time and even more satisfying after loading up the memory cards to find I got quite a few good shots. If you’d like to buy prints or photo rights, drop me a line at daniel@danielfranksphotography.com.

Meanwhile, here are a few-

Long time, no post

16 02 2009

Finally getting around to posting. Been extremely busy this year already. Currently working on two new sites, one for photography and the other for another sports site I’m setting up. Haven’t been shooting a whole lot, but have managed to squeeze in a few photos when snowboarding. Hopefully all is well in the world of computers for everyone. We’ll post up some recent editorial I’ve had in the coming days-

Back from Baja

Trophy Jump

Got back yesterday from beautiful Mexico. Went down to watch the Baja 1000, take shots, hang out with friends, and pit for a few buddies who race. Had a great time just relaxing and wandering around. Went to Ensenada first, then from there to Punta Cobras, and finally back up to Punta San Jose for a quick surf and relaxation time. Regardless of all the problems currently in Mexico, it is still a beautiful place, with amazing people. Above is one shot from the race, and others are located in the Flickr. Shot above by Johnny Redmond, a good friend and great photographer. Hope all is well-

Oakley Surf Report for iPhone

10 11 2008

This is awesome, Oakley teamed up with Surfline.com to make an iPhone App. It works great and is really convenient to have on your phone. I recommend it to anyone with an iPhone as I am sure it will come in handy. Cheers-

Back From Africa…

Killing Time

I wish. Went to the San Diego Wild Animal Park a few weekends ago for the first time and had a blast. The girlfriend and I saw everything and really enjoyed the afternoon. Took the camera and naturally snapped a few pics.

Socal Surf

16 10 2008

Surf has been great these past few weeks. Been shooting quite a bit here in San Clemente at various spots. Picked up a new to me 1d and paired it with my 600mm for the first real test this week. I am amazed at the quality, focus speed, and pretty much everything else with this combo. At times it can be a little too zoomed in, however, still getting use to it, for sometime I’m sure. Planning a trip to hopefully hop over to Oahu this winter and shoot, but who knows at the moment. I’ll continue to post up shots with the beautiful October light and hoping that it lasts in to November. Check out the Flickr account for a few more pics from Lowers and other spots in San Clemente from the past few days.

October Mornings-Newport

13 10 2008

The falls months are something of a gem when it comes to California surf. Santa Ana winds turn to blow off shore and bring with it a warm and relaxing calm. The surf here has been great these past few weeks and looks to only be getting better in the following weeks. Went to Newport Beach this past weekend to snap a few and came out with some good ones. Check the Flickr account for a few more to the right but hopefully everyone is getting surf wherever they might be. See you in the water-
